The ADE9153A is a highly accurate, single-phase, energy metering IC with autocalibration. The mSure^® autocalibration feature allows a meter to automatically calibrate the current and voltage channels without using an accurate source or an accurate reference meter when a shunt resistor is used as a current sensor. Class 1 and Class 2 meters are supported by mSure autocalibration.

The ADE9153A incorporates three high performance analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), providing an 88 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The ADE9153A offers an advanced metrology feature set of measurements like line voltage and current, active energy, fundamental reactive energy, and apparent energy calculations, and current and voltage rms calculations. ADE9153A includes power quality measurements such as zero crossing detection, line period calculation, angle measurement, dip and swell, peak and overcurrent detection, and power factor measurements. Each input channel supports independent and flexible gain stages. Current Channel A is ideal for shunts, having a flexible gain stage and providing full-scale input ranges from 62.5 mV peak down to 26.04 mV peak. Current Channel B has gain stages of 1×, 2×, and 4× for use with current transformers (CTs). A high speed, 10 MHz, serial peripheral interface (SPI) port allows access to the ADE9153A registers.

The ADE9153A operates from a 3.3 V supply and is available in a 32-lead LFCSP package.

The LTC3355 is a complete input power interrupt ride-through DC/DC system. The part charges a supercapacitor while delivering load current to V_OUT, and uses energy from the supercapacitor to provide continuous V_OUT backup power when V_IN power is lost. The LTC3355 contains a nonsynchronous constant frequency current mode monolithic 1A buck switching regulator to provide a 2.7V to 5V regulated output voltage from an input supply of up to 20V.

A 1A programmable CC/CV linear charger charges the supercapacitor from V_OUT. When the V_IN supply drops below the PFI threshold, the devices’s constant frequency nonsynchronous current mode 5A boost switching regulator delivers power from the supercapacitor to V_OUT. A thermal regulation loop maximizes charge current while limiting the die temperature to 110°C. The IC has boost, charger and V_IN programmable current limits. The LTC3355 is available in a 20-lead 4mm × 4mm QFN surface mount package.

The ADM2484E is an isolated data transceiver with ±15 kV ESD protection suitable for high speed, half- or full-duplex communication on multipoint transmission lines. For half-duplex operation, the transmitter outputs and receiver inputs share the same transmission line. Transmitter Output Pin Y links externally to Receiver Input Pin A, and Transmitter Output Pin Z links externally to Receiver Input Pin B.

Designed for balanced transmission lines, the ADM2484E complies with ANSI TIA/EIA RS-485-A-1998 and ISO 8482: 1987(E). The device employs Analog Devices, Inc., iCoupler^® technology to combine a 3-channel isolator, a three-state differential line driver, and a differential input receiver into a single package.

The differential transmitter outputs and receiver inputs feature electrostatic discharge circuitry that provides protection up to ±15 kV using the human body model (HBM). The logic side of the device can be powered with either a 5 V or a 3.3 V supply, whereas the bus side requires an isolated 3.3 V supply.

The device has current-limiting and thermal shutdown features to protect against output short circuits and situations where bus contention causes excessive power dissipation.

The ADE9078 is a highly accurate, fully integrated energy metering device. Interfacing with both current transformer (CT) and Rogowski coil sensors, the ADE9078 enables users to develop a 3-phase metrology platform, which achieves high performance for Class 1 up to Class 0.2 meters.

The ADE9078 integrates seven high performances ADCs and a flexible DSP core. An integrated high end reference ensures low drift over temperature with a combined drift of less than ±25 ppm/°C maximum per channel, each of which includes a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) and ADC.

The ADE9078 offers an integrated flexible waveform buffer that stores samples at a fixed data rate or a sampling rate that varies based on line frequency to ensure 64 points per line cycle. These two options make it easy to implement harmonic analysis in an external processor according to IEC 61000-4-7.

Two power modes are provided to enable detection of meter tampering: PSM2 uses a low power comparator to compare current channels to a threshold and indicates whether it is exceeded on the IRQ0 and IRQ1 outputs; PSM1 enables fast measurement of current and voltage rms (xVRMS and xIRMS), active power, and VAR during a tamper.

The ADE9078 allows advanced and highly accurate energy measurements, enabling one platform to cover a wide range of meters, through a combination of various high end metrology features and superior analog performance.

The ADE7912/ADE7913 are isolated, 3-channel Σ-Δ ADCs for a variety of applications such as shunt-based polyphase meters, power quality monitoring, solar inverters, process monitoring and protective devices. Data and power isolation are based on the Analog Devices, Inc., iCoupler^® technology. The ADE7912 features two ADCs, and the ADE7913 features three ADCs. The current ADC provides a 67 dB signal-to-noise ratio over a 3 kHz signal bandwidth, whereas the voltage ADCs provide a SNR of 72 dB over the same bandwidth. One channel is dedicated to measuring the voltage across a shunt when the shunt is used for current sensing. Up to two additional channels are dedicated to measuring voltages, which are usually sensed using resistor dividers. One voltage channel can be used to measure the temperature of the die via an internal sensor. The ADE7913 includes three channels: one current and two voltage channels. The ADE7912 has one voltage channel but is otherwise identical to the ADE7913.

The ADE7978, the ADE7933/ADE7932, and ADE7923 form a chipset dedicated to measuring 3-phase electrical energy using shunts as current sensors. The ADE7933/ADE7932 are isolated, 3-channel sigma-delta analog-to-digital converters (Σ-Δ ADCs) for polyphase energy metering applications that use shunt current sensors.

The ADE7923 is a nonisolated, 3-channel Σ-Δ ADC for the neutral line that uses a shunt current sensor. The ADE7932 features two ADCs, and the ADE7933 and ADE7923 feature three ADCs.

One channel is dedicated to measuring the voltage across the shunt when a shunt is used for current sensing. This channel provides a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 67 dB over a 3.3 kHz signal bandwidth. Up to two additional channels are dedicated to measuring voltages, which are usually sensed using resistor dividers.

The unused voltage channels on the neutral ADE7923 can be used for auxiliary voltage measurements. These channels provide an SNR of 75 dB over a 3.3 kHz signal bandwidth. One voltage channel can be used to measure the temperature of the die via an internal sensor. The ADE7933 and ADE7923 include three channels: one current channel and two voltage channels. The ADE7932 includes one current channel and one voltage channel, but is otherwise identical to the ADE7933.

The ADE7933/ADE7932 include isoPower^®, an integrated, isolated dc-to-dc converter. Based on the Analog Devices, Inc., iCoupler^® technology, the dc-to-dc converter provides the regulated power required by the first stage of the ADCs at a 3.3 V input supply. The ADE7933/ADE7932 eliminate the need for an external dc-to-dc isolation block. The iCoupler chip scale transformer technology is used to isolate the logic signals between the first and second stages of the ADC. The result is a small form factor, total isolation solution. The ADE7923 is the nonisolated version of the ADE7933 that can be used for neutral current measurement when isolation from the neutral line is not required.

The ADE7933/ADE7932 and ADE7923 contain a digital interface that is specially designed to interface with the ADE7978. Using this interface, the ADE7978 accesses the ADC outputs and configuration settings of the ADE7933/ADE7932 and ADE7923.

The ADE7933/ADE7932 are available in a 20-lead, Pb-free, widebody SOIC package with increased creepage. The ADE7923 is available in a similar 20-lead, Pb-free, wide-body SOIC package without the increased creepage.

The ADE7978 is a high accuracy, 3-phase electrical energy measurement IC with serial interfaces and three flexible pulse outputs. The ADE7978 can interface with up to four ADE7933/ ADE7932 and ADE7923 devices. The ADE7978 incorporates all the signal processing required to perform total (fundamental and harmonic) active, reactive, and apparent energy measurement and rms calculations, as well as fundamental-only active and reactive energy measurement and rms calculations. A fixed function digital signal processor (DSP) executes this signal processing.

The ADE7978 measures the active, reactive, and apparent energy in various 3-phase configurations, such as wye or delta services, with both three and four wires. The ADE7978 provides system calibration features for each phase, gain calibration, and optional offset correction. Phase compensation is also available, but it is not necessary because the currents are sensed using shunts. The CF1, CF2, and CF3 logic outputs provide a wide selection of power information: total active, reactive, and apparent powers; the sum of the current rms values; and fundamental active and reactive powers.

The ADE7978 incorporates power quality measurements, such as short duration low or high voltage detection, short duration high current variations, line voltage period measurement, and angles between phase voltages and currents. Two serial interfaces, SPI and I²C, can be used to communicate with the ADE7978. A dedicated high speed interface—the high speed data capture (HSDC) port—can be used in conjunction with I²C to provide access to the ADC outputs and real-time power information. The ADE7978 also has two interrupt request pins, IRQ0 and IRQ1, to indicate that an enabled interrupt event has occurred. The ADE7978 is available in a 28-lead, Pb-free LFCSP package.
